down the block

Down the block is an ongoing photographic project documenting independent neighborhood businesses, homes, and individuals across Chicago. Through portraits of these individuals and photographs of their spaces, the work explores how these neighborhoods shape community identity among ongoing change.

Rather than focusing on spectacle or loss, the project centers on presence and identity. the people, interiors, and everyday labor that sustain neighborhoods over time. Each photograph is made in collaboration with the individuals, using a simple and respectful approach that prioritizes trust and representation.

follow me as we explore the city of chicago and the homes, businesses, and individuals that are witnessing these crucial moments.
